Stable CTV is only importing one new series: the Thursday-night drama The Vampire Diaries. Dancing with the Stars will also be returning to the network (although its most recent season was not simulcast) and America's Next Top Model will be aired on the main network for the first time.
Meanwhile. second network "A" Channel, which saw significant ratings growth under CTV ownership in the past year (overtaking Roger's CITY-tv and Canwest's E!) announced the acquisition of 4 new ABC series: the Thursday night series "Flash Forward"; Wednesday night sitcoms "Hank" and "The Middle"; plus Wednesday Night's "Eastwick". "A" has also licensed "The Beautiful Life".
Established series returning to CTV are:
Grey’s Anatomy
CSI
CSI: New York
CSI: Miami
The Mentalist
The Amazing Race
Criminal Minds
Desperate Housewives
Law & Order: SVU
Flashpoint
Established series returning to "A" channel are:
Two And A Half Men
Big Bang Theory
Fringe
Private Practice
Medium
Law & Order
Gossip Girl
Castle
"A" channel will also pick up the next season of FOX's (relocated to fall) So You Think You Can Dance; whereas CTV continues to air the Canadian version.
CTV stressed their strong programming commitment to secondary network A Channel was only a one year reprieve as the heavy investment in highly rated US series to simulcast has not translated into advertising revenue. CTV owns "A" Channel stations in Barrie, London, Ottawa, Windsor, Wingham and Victoria.
