Rogers Media Television today announced aggressive US program acquisitions for its “CITY tv” branded mini network. The network includes affiliated stations in major urban centres such as Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg. Rogers previously acquired the CITY stations from ctvglobemedia following the latter’s acquisition of the CHUM-City group, when the CRTC ordered CTV to divest itself of its CITY holdings as a precondition for approving the deal. The new Fall line-up will include returning US series that previously aired on other Canadian carriers as well as new series acquisitions.
All tolled CITY tv's line up this Fall will include an unprecedented 16 hours of US network simulcasts across the 22 prime time hours. CITY’s biggest US program supplier will be NBC.
