Summer is peak period for the major US networks to introduce original non-fiction series to replace re-runs of their usual Fall-Winter fictional series lineups. Here is how the Summer reality series that are currently airing fared last week (ending Aug 8th) with audiences (ranked on viewership levels based on the Nielson ratings). The viewership figures are in thousands. The final number is the rating which is the estimated percentage of the universe of TV households tuned to a program in the average minute. The first number indicates the rating of the show among all 83 prime time series (including fictional series) airing on the 5 major networks last week. For comparison, the average series rating as just over five million (5,210 or 1.8). There are several new series entering the list this week including the return of prime-time Millionaire and the debut of Shark Tank on ABC.
