2009 Dora Winners

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) presented the 30th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards on Monday, June 29 at the Winter Garden Theatre. While long running big budget musicals "The Sound of Music" (Mirvish Productions) and "Jersey Boys" (Dancap Productions) received nods, the biggest winner was Agokwe, a small production mounted at Buddies in Bad Times theatre. It won a leading six awards, including outstanding production of a play and best new play. Agokwe was written by and stars by Ojibwa First Nations artist Waawaate Fobister.
